Silverchair is an Australian alternative rock band, formed in Newcastle, New South Wales in 1992. The group has had more top twenty hits in Australian charts during the last decade than any other local artist. Additionally, they have sold over six million albums worldwide. Every album released by the band to date has spawned at least one top 10 single and debuted at the #1 position on Australian charts.
Silverchair is also one of only three Australian bands to have three number 1 singles on the Australian Singles Chart, and the only Australian band to have their first albums chart at #1 in the Australian Album Chart. They are the most successful act at the ARIA awards, having won more awards than any other act.

Diorama is the fourth album by the Australian band Silverchair, released in 2002. Although Silverchair were known as a post-grunge band, by this time in their career, their music had progressed to such an extent that it became largely unrecognizable as work of the same adolescent rock group that burst onto the international music scene in 1995.

The sound of Diorama has been described as more refined than Silverchair’s earlier work. It is probably more accurate, however, to view Diorama as a natural continuation of the changes to their sound that began in 1999’s Neon Ballroom. In any case, many of the songs can be described as progressive rock, including power ballads (e.g. “World Upon Your Shoulders”) but with a hard song, “The Lever” in a Dropped B and also, the low E-String for “One Way Mule”. Several songs on the album were arranged by renowned Beach Boys collaborator, Van Dyke Parks. Daniel Johns stated that there were 8 songs
written for the album in the beginning but he scrapped it because it sounded like his previous efforts.
