“Tatsuro Yamashita (February 4, 1953) is a musician and producer; and in a long running system for ranking musical achievements compiled by industry professionals from around the world for HMV. Tatsuro has been listed as the worlds 74th most influential musician . He is also ranked at No.1 in a list of Japan’s top 30 singers , and was listed at No.6 in a list of Japan’s top 100 musicians. After the hit single “Ride on Time” which was released in 1980, all of his records have reached the top five on the Japanese music chart. His most well-known song is “Christmas Eve”. It first appeared on his album Melodies in 1983, and was later released as a single In 1986, when it became the standard Japanese Christmas song.”
