Roger Alan Wade is a singer/songwriter with over 20 years in the business. “You just give him a couple of fifths of Crown Royal, a pack of smokes and a case of beer, put him in front of a four-track, and get out of the way,” says Johnny Knoxville on recording his cousin Roger Alan Wade on Wade’s debut album “All Likkered Up.”
Wade has written for the likes of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and George Jones. He has a couple of gold records and a #1 song with Hank Williams Jr.’s “Country State of Mind.” His “If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough” song became the unofficial theme of the movie Jackass.

The uncouth has been all but extricated from contemporary country music. For the most part country artists shy away from the raucous roots of the honky-tonks and redneck livin’. Roger Alan Wade walks the line straight away from the easy listening, pious platitude adorned music of popular country radio and into the musty darkness of a bar that never closes. The closest that Wade ever comes to god, patriotism and apple pie is “Poontang.” Roger Alan Wade is truly an outlaw of country. He pays no mind to the dominate ideology of feel good and pop-friendly country. He is an outlaw without equal, even if country and crass music is not your favorite, Wade may make you change you mind.
