Dampyre… Half-breeds. Immortal spawn of a night creature and a mortal, born of the day and yet holding the power of the night. Among the shadow realms of Asia, the families that control the night shun that word as if it were a bad omen. Some react to it in superstition, some in anger, others in fear and others still in disbelief. For the Kurayami family, this word hit home hard when their own venerable guardian created his own daughter of a unknown vampire of old Europe, then elevated her within their ranks. Ashland was not so lucky.

Her father was an outcast, defiantly wanting to prove that these “half-breeds” could be very useful, seeking to use them to replace the standard mindless and weak half-dead servants that they now used and he was destroyed for it. Ashland’s mother abandoned her following his death and their daughter, who was born to be a living weapon was left alone. For years she battled her way to a simple right to survive, seeking to reclaim her right among the family that destroyed hers by simply being too useful to ignore. For a time her hard work was paying off, until she got wind of another like her that was all too privileged.

Rualyn became her ultimate rival. To gain a standing in the Kurayami family she had to get into Kurai’s good graces. A tough job when the other Dampyre was the guardian’s own daughter. But then, she hadn’t lived this long to back down now.
